About Me
I was 13 years old, a curious kid in boarding school, when the first seed of my travel story was planted. Back then, I didn’t know how I’d ever see the world—I didn’t have the means, but the desire was already alive in me.
In school, we had this social club that received international magazines, and some of them had pen-pal sections. I remember writing to five students in Germany, and out of those, three replied. But one girl, Yoanah, became more than just a pen friend—she became a sister. For five years, we exchanged letters faithfully.
When I turned 18, Yoanah asked me, “Would you like to visit me in Germany?” My answer was an easy “Yes!”—though in reality, I had no money and no idea how it could happen. But she said, “Don’t worry. I’ll raise the funds and find a way.” And she did. On June 16, 2008, I landed in Frankfurt, Germany, and met my friend in person for the very first time. That was the beginning of my life in Germany, and really, the beginning of my journey with travel.
Those first years weren’t easy. Life in a strange land came with its struggles, and I had to focus on school and work. Traveling had to wait. But when I finally received my first paycheck, I booked a flight to Italy. That trip was my very first solo adventure—and it changed me. From then on, I just couldn’t stop.
So far, I’ve visited 65 countries, and 33 of those have been solo trips. Traveling alone has taught me courage, independence, and openness. Traveling with friends, family, and even strangers has taught me community and connection. And the more I travel, the more curious I become about the world.
At first, travel was just about me. But as I started sharing my experiences on Instagram and WhatsApp, people began asking questions: “How do you do this?” “How can I plan a trip like that?” It became clear that I couldn’t just keep these lessons to myself. That’s how this blog was born—to share the knowledge, tips, and experiences I’ve gathered along the way.
Travel has given me more than I could ever explain. It has shown me kindness in unexpected places—like the stranger in Morocco who paid my bus fare when my card didn’t work, or the Japanese family who welcomed me into their home for tea. It has made me more empathetic, more tolerant, and more aware of how connected we all are as humans. At the core, no matter where we’re from, we all want the same things: to be loved, accepted, and to belong.
When I’m not on a plane, I work full-time as an IT Project Manager. Living in Germany gives me six weeks of paid vacation a year, and I use them wisely to plan my trips. People often ask me, “How do you afford to travel so much?” The truth is, it’s not about being rich—it’s about being intentional. With planning, saving, and making smart choices, travel is possible.
For me, travel isn’t about luxury. It’s about leaving your comfort zone, immersing yourself in experiences you wouldn’t have at home, and letting the world shape you. Every trip has left a mark on me, and my hope is to inspire others to step out and experience that transformation for themselves.
Because at the end of the day, travel is not just about the places you go. It’s about the person you become along the way.
